when I try to shutdown HAVP I get this error message....
Code:
debian: /home/zxqv# /etc/init.d/havp stop
Shutting down HAVP ...
Error: HAVP not running or PIDFILE unreadable

Did you follow the INSTALL file?

# chown havp /var/run/havp

Now havp can write the pid there..

You could just also use:

# pkill havp
