Hey all, I'm testing out HAVP and it seems to work great, however the error file has many 'Could not lock Scannerfile:' messages: 31/08/2007 12:13:40 --- All scanners initialized 31/08/2007 12:13:40 Process ID: 4482 31/08/2007 12:32:24 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-vbazQi 31/08/2007 12:32:24 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-X91hRi 31/08/2007 12:32:25 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-dQLaOm 31/08/2007 12:32:25 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-iwXqOm 31/08/2007 14:13:44 ClamAV: Reloaded 155220 signatures (engine 0.91.2) 31/08/2007 14:14:00 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-JfJaQD 31/08/2007 14:14:00 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-sA0WRD 31/08/2007 14:14:01 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-eLgnPH 31/08/2007 14:14:01 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-TzxYQH 31/08/2007 14:14:02 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-bOthOL 31/08/2007 14:14:02 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-c6VUPL 31/08/2007 14:52:48 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-ttm5Vb 31/08/2007 14:52:48 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-DvIWWb 31/08/2007 14:52:49 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-MrsvTf 31/08/2007 14:52:49 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-cM5cUf 31/08/2007 14:52:50 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-7rvNQj 31/08/2007 14:52:50 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-JjHzRj 31/08/2007 14:52:56 Could not lock Scannerfile: /var/tmp/havp/havp-HCEaxH This doesn't really make sense as it works most of the time. I am using tmpfs for the /var/tmp/havp, might that have something to do with it? |

Yes Linux tmpfs has problems for many people. Just use some /var directly or use a loopback partition. I guess it's some sort of kernel bug/feature, but never had time to investigate more. On Solaris tmpfs works wonderfully, not a single problem.. |

Yeah, I've discovered that tmpfs, while a great idea, is kinda flaky on linux. Digging around I've been able to resolve all my issues by doing the following: 1. Commenting out the shm mount point in /etc/fstab 2. Using these mount options (with a gig of ram) tmpfs /var/tmp/havp tmpfs defaults,nosuid,noexec,mand,size=768M,mode=1777 0 0 Edit: Turns out this method didn't work either. Or, it worked for a day before I got the error messages again. As a compromise I'm mounting a loopback image w/mand enabled from a standard tmpfs partition. So far this works. |
