Hello all,

I'm looking to either create a ramdisk for the /var/tmp/havp temp files, or possibly a small partition on a dedicated, high-speed disk.

I'm curious as to how to size it. Is the max disk usage a function of MAXSERVERS multiplied by MAXSCANSIZE?

Yes in theory MAXSERVERS x MAXSCANSIZE would be the highest usage possible. But it can be smaller, since 1) You should not be hitting MAXSERVERS concurrent users all the time 2) All users won't be downloading large files simultaneously.

Also the speed of the disk doesn't matter that much if you have enough free memory. The files stay on disk so little time that they are probably always in OS cache. And you can use the normal tunings like: noatime, data=writeback or FreeBSD softupdates etc..
