I'm running privoxy->havp with clamav. I'm getting an error message "ClamAV: Unable to create temporary directory", which I can't find the cause of. The havp.config has TEMPDIR /tmp and the /tmp directory is world writeable. clamd.conf has TemporaryDirectory /tmp so I don't think its a clamav problem either. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this problem? Any help would be really appreciated. |

Hi papafox, check your clamd.conf if there is set a special tmp-folder and if so check the rights of clamav on this folder. regards Severus |

The problem depends on the library libclamav3. Solution: Depending on how it was compiled: run : ln -s libclamav.so.2.0.8 libclamav.so.2 or ln -s libclamav.so.2.0.8 libclamav.so.3 restart havp restart squid (if used) hi |

May be I'm wrong but I don't think so. If not able to connect to the clamav libraries havp should not start at all. I use havp with the copfilter addon of ipcop and there havp broke with an error message when there was no symlink to the current libclamav. regards Severus |

Hello, I have same problem " SCANERROR ClamAV: Unable to create temporary directory". - Havp 0.87 and clamav 0.92.1. - I using "ln -s libclamav.so.3.0.4 libclamav.so.3" , but error messages display 10x daily. - clamd.conf configure "TemporaryDirectory /var/tmp/clamav" havp configure "SCANTEMPFILE /var/tmp/havp/havp-XXXXXX" and "TEMPDIR /var/tmp/havpclam" - Temp directory have owner rights: var/tmp/***** drwxrwxr-x 2 clamav clamav 4096 Mar 25 14:17 clamav/ drwxrwxrwx 2 havp havp 4096 Mar 26 08:14 havpclam/ drwxrwxrwx 3 havp havp 4096 Mar 26 08:14 havp/ Please help |

I think the bug is because ClamAV doesn't generate random enough directory names. It fails when there is a temporary directory with the same name already and doesn't try again. |

My bad.. there was a bug in HAVP, random seed wasn't initialized after forking, so all clamav processes had the same. Resulting in some duplicate temporary names. Please try this new test version: http://havp.hege.li/download/havp-0.88pre2.tar.gz |

Hi Hege, I started getting this problem at 0.87. I'm currently at 0.89 with Clam 0.93.3 on Solaris 10 and still have this popping up in the logs. Any ideas? |

Try ClamAV 0.94. I haven't seen any errors myself since that. |

One question: are you running havp over virus database from clamav? If so, try following: run havp and clamav with the same user and group and don't forget to change the ownership of the directories! It's only a guess. Another way to try is, to run havp over socket of clamav. @bad4m are your problems solved with squid configuration? |

It solved now i upgrade my HH to interpid and this is what i have root@castor:/home/mirza/web# havp --help Usage: havp [Options] HAVP Version 0.89 =============== for now i dont see that msg anymore ( hope this not temporary ) |
