You need to be more specific. What is asking for authentication? Your squid or some www-page? Is HAVP before or after Squid?

Thanks for the answer and good morning.

HAVP is before squid. CLIENT -> SQUID -> HAVP -> INTERNET. I use NCSA authentication with squid and when a user request a web page but after he have inserted username and password squid request username and password another time.

If i don't set havp how parent proxy in squid squid work correctly else the user authentication don't work.

I only have this issue, if i configure havp as a sandwich with squid and ncsa authentication.
When configured as client->havp->squid(ncsa), it's working correctly for me! Which version of squid are you using?
My version is squid/2.6.STABLE5

greetings, karesmakro

Hi all,

After googling extensively, i manage to configure squid proxy authentication using NCSA. My proxy configuration is squid --> HAVP --> squid--> Internet. I just edited the script below:

cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8090 0 name=havp proxy-only no-query no-digest no-netdb-exchange login=PASS default

cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8081 0 name=squid2 proxy-only no-query no-digest no-netdb-exchange login=PASS

and it work as expectedly. May be i am outdated but i hope it would help the newbie.

Thank You,
Chaq
