Can HAVP be used with a SOCKS Parent Proxy that only understands the SOCKS protocol and not HTTP?

If so how do I configure HAVP to do so?

HAVP doesn't support SOCKS.. maybe we add it if there is demand for it.

You could try something like http://www.inet.no/dante/ or http://tsocks.sourceforge.net/, they can force a program to use SOCKS transparently..

My set-up is a folllows:

[SERVER] -> [JAP / TOR -> HAVP -> PRIVOXY] -> [CLIENT]

Hence my question regarding using SOCKS Parent Proxies with HAVP.

However what I really want to be able to do is change the proxy order to:
[SERVER] -> [JAP / TOR -> PRIVOXY -> HAVP] -> [CLIENT]

Privoxy already has SOCKS capability and HAVP would have less to scan because the filtering would take place before the virus scanning.

Unfortunately in that scenario I want to bind HAVP to my internal network address and localhost address but not my external network address (yes -I could bind to all addresses and block access to the external address through the firewall - but various security scanners would complain)
This way proxy/firewall box as well as machines on my internal network could access the proxy.

So basically being able to bind to HAVP multiple addresses (but not all) would be great - but I have been unable to get this to work.

Is it possible with the current HAVP software? (I'm using version 0.76)
If it is please tell me how to do it.

Regards

Os

Now I come to think of it, being able to direct different types of traffic e.g. HTTPS & FTP to different parent proxies would be a really useful addition.

I guess you need Squid to be the first one.. then it would be easy..
